A SONNET FOR THE FLOWER

He trampled on the already mocked flower.

without shame or compassion.

She crushed the petals in her hand…

Between her fingers it lay, destroyed.

It was stained with vivid crimson.

the flesh of bitten nails

and with hopes dashed,

He still wept, his soul livid.

Little did the flower know that resilience

It was stored within its seed.

who slept there on the pollen-bed

and that one should wait patiently,

it would be reborn in the lap of the warm earth,

despite the harm that was done to him.
